What is Voceluz
Voceluz is an app I'm building for bedtime: every night it writes a new story with the characters your child picks (a shy dragon, a candy forest, an older sister named Emma), but you're still the one reading it aloud. No synthetic voice ever talks to the child.
Four steps, then sleep
1. Choose together: the child builds the world of the story and you approve it. 2. The story appears: a new tale is ready in seconds, with the length you asked for. 3. You read aloud: the phone rests on the nightstand, screen dimmed. 4. The ambience kicks in: rain, a creaking door, a distant howl arrive exactly when your reading reaches them.
What makes it different
Since the app itself wrote the story, Voceluz knows which lines are coming and recognizes them in your voice as soon as you say them. It doesn't guess the pace or run a background timer — it waits for you. If you stop to explain a word, if the child interrupts with a question, or if you skip half a page, the ambience waits with you. And if you'd rather read in silence, it turns off with one gesture.
The microphone turns on only when the story starts and off when it ends. Sounds always play below your voice — they never compete with it.
FAQ
Does Voceluz read the story to my child? No. You read the story aloud; while you read, the app shows the story's illustrations on screen.
Are the stories personalized? Yes. You tell Voceluz your child's interests and favorite characters, and the app creates a new story from that.
How does the ambient sound work? Since the app wrote the story, it recognizes the lines in your voice and triggers the matching sound at the right moment.
When will the app be available? Coming soon to the App Store (iOS and iPadOS) and Google Play (Android).
